Minions at SCEE and BAFTA!

Yesterday was the most exhausting day the team have had in a long while! We had to travel down to London carrying a mass of equipment, pitch a new game concept to SCEE at their London offices and then attend a BUGS launch event at BAFTA! We left at 8am and got back at 1am! Fortunately it was a very productive day and the pitch went extremely well so it looks like our next release will be a PSN title for the PlayStation 3!

We can finally tell the world that we are the proud owners of a PS4 devkit! It is one of the first to be given to any academic institution in the UK as part of PlayStation First. It's all been top secret until now, but there's an article all about it in this month's EDGE magazine, so we're finally allowed to talk about it. There are some pictures of our students and their work in the article too, but no actual pictures of a PS4 devkit. So here's one of some of our students using the kit to resolve your curiosity.

Three more lovely new PlayStation Vita dev kits arrived in the post today courtesy of our friends at PlayStation First! We're really excited about working with the new kit and this year's MComp students are already planning to port the Steel Engine to the Vita.

BounceBack WINS at Game Republic

Steel Minions' first title 'BounceBack' walked away with three out of four awards at this year’s Game Republic student showcase. The soon to be released PSP Minis title won Best Technology, awarded by Four Door Lemon, Best Game Design, awarded by Sumo Digital, and finally Best Team, awarded by Rockstar Leeds. Huge congratulations to the development team!
