The Steel Minions Game Studio was created in 2010 in order to provide students on Hallam's game development degrees with "workplace simulation" within a studio environment.
Our small (but perfectly formed) studio is based in Sheffield Hallam's science park, close to Sheffield train station.
Students are chosen to work in the studio based on merit, and the projects that they work on are often integrated into assessments as part of their degrees.
We're passionate about making games, eager to please and our rates are very reasonable. We're capable of creating games for a range of platforms including browser/facebook games in HTML5, iOS games in Unity, or prototypes of games for console platforms such as PSP and PS3. If you have a project that you would like us to work on then drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We really value working on real-world projects but, if your project is very time-critical or highly confidential then we may not be the best option for you, as we generally integrate any work undertaken in the studio into the student's degree assessments.
If you need a professional indie studio then check out the Sheffield Indie Developers Group (Shindig) or if you need something on a much larger scale then contact the region's largest game developer, Sumo.
The studio is managed by the lecturers of the game-based degrees at Sheffield Hallam. Many of us have have had games industry careers in our previous lives and you can find out more about us by following the links on our beautiful mug-shots below. If you want to get in touch with any of us individually then you can email us at:
The studio benefits from the expertise of professionals within the local game development community who pop in from time to time to offer the students advice and support on their studio projects.
